1. What types of hardwood flooring do you offer?
We offer a wide variety of hardwood flooring options including oak, maple, walnut, hickory, and more. Our collection includes both solid hardwood and engineered hardwood to suit different styles, needs, and budgets. Whether you’re looking for traditional or modern finishes, we have something for every taste.
2. How do I know which hardwood floor is right for my space?
The choice of hardwood flooring depends on factors like room size, foot traffic, and your desired aesthetic. Our experts can help you choose the best material and finish based on your specific needs. For high-traffic areas, engineered hardwood may be a more durable option, while solid hardwood can add timeless appeal to rooms like living areas and bedrooms.
3. Can hardwood flooring be installed in bathrooms or kitchens?
While hardwood flooring can be installed in kitchens, bathrooms, and other moisture-prone areas, it requires careful consideration. Engineered hardwood is more suitable for these spaces, as it is more resistant to changes in humidity. We recommend consulting with our team to determine the best solution for your home.
4. What is the difference between solid and engineered hardwood? What about site finished and prefinished? Laminates and vinyl products?
- Solid Hardwood is made from a single piece of wood, offering a classic and durable option. It can be sanded and refinished multiple times, increasing its longevity. These floors are generally your more traditional widths (1 1/2", 2 1/4", 3 1/4", 4", etc.) to give you solid wood from the top to the bottom.
- Engineered Hardwood consists of multiple layers of wood, with a real hardwood veneer on top. It is more stable than solid hardwood and less likely to expand or contract with changes in humidity.
- Site Finished Flooring is raw wood flooring that is installed without stains or finishes with the finish work being completed after the flooring is installed. This means the floor is sanded, stained, and finished on site to the owner's specs. We have an infinite number of options of color and finish combinations, so this allows much more owner input in regard to the final outcome.
- Prefinished Flooring is flooring that comes from the manufacturer with final stain and finishes already applied, leaving only installation to be completed on site. The benefit of this is that clients are able to see from the very beginning what the final product will look like without having to sand and finish, making the process a little faster.
- Laminate? LVP? LVT??? These products are not wood flooring. These are essentially varying types of plastic floors, using different mixtures of underlayment and core materials, but just an image of wood flooring with a plastic coating. Although these products are popular, we focus only on real wood flooring products and do not recommend these products.
5. How should I care for and maintain my hardwood floors?
Proper care can significantly extend the life of your hardwood floors. To maintain their beauty:
- Regularly sweep or vacuum to remove dirt and debris.
- Wipe up spills promptly with a damp cloth.
- Use furniture pads to prevent scratches.
- Periodically clean your floors with a wood-specific cleaner.
- Consider refinishing your floors every few years to restore their shine.
6. Is hardwood flooring a good investment?
Absolutely! Hardwood floors are known for their timeless appeal, and they can significantly increase the value of your home. They are durable and can last for decades when properly maintained, making them a wise long-term investment for any property.
7. How long does hardwood flooring last?
With proper care, hardwood flooring can last for 30 years or more. In fact, solid hardwood floors can be refinished several times throughout their lifespan, allowing you to restore their original beauty and extend their durability.
8. How long does the installation process take?
The timeline for installation depends on the size of the area, the type of hardwood flooring, and any additional work required (like subfloor preparation). Typically, installation takes 1-3 days for an average-sized home. Our team will provide you with an estimated timeline before the project begins.
9. Does doing my floors mean my house will be covered in dust?
The sanding process is much cleaner than in it was in the past. Although there is always the chance of some dust, our machines are hooked up to dust containment systems and drastically minimizes the dust that become airborne during the finishing process. During installation, our team makes sure to do all cutting outdoors to minimize dust, although some may be unavoidable if prep and demo work is required, but we make sure to keep the dust contained within working areas and to clean up after ourselves.
10. Can I install hardwood floors myself, or do I need a professional?
While DIY installation is possible, we highly recommend hiring a professional for the best results. Proper installation ensures the floors are properly acclimated, the subfloor is level, and the boards are placed securely. Our experienced installation team will ensure your floors look stunning and last for years to come.
